Good News, Biology as an additional subject is valid for NEET 2019: Dr. Amit Gupta

This is a relief for students having Biology as an additional subject in Class XII. Last year, Additional Bio Subject in 12th was considered as ineligible to appear in NEET (UG) 2018. The Medical Council of India (MCI), New Delhi issue notice that students having Biology as an additional subject in 12th Board will not be allowed to take participate in the NEET Exam. However, the students, teachers and parents went to the HC and challenged this issue. The High court gave the interim orders and allowed students to apply for the NEET (UG) 2018.

Medical Council of India has also issued the notice that students studying in NIOS (Open School) or as Private students are also ineligible for NEET. The upper age limit of 25 years for UR category was also another challenge that students approached to the High Court Delhi.

On 16 August 2018, Dr. Amit Gupta, the supporter of NEET Aspirants have tweeted that Biology as an additional subject is considered as eligible.

This is an indeed victory for the NEET Aspirants who are studying very hard were not able to apply for MBBS/ BDS admission.

From year 2019, the National Testing Agency has taken charge to conduct National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). This will be the first time, NTA is going to conduct any entrance exam. Apart from the NEET Exam, the NTA is also given responsibility to organize JEE Main, GPAT, GMAT and UGC NET 2019.

It has been decided that NTA will conduct NEET twice a year. For the NEET Feb 2019, the registration will be available from 1 October and last date to fill form is 31 Oct 2019. The exam will be held from 1 Feb to 17 Feb.

For the May 2019 NEET Exam, the registration will be available from 1st week of March 2019, the exam date is from 12 May to 26 May 2019.

Some media are also publishing news that NTA is only going to hold NEET, one time a year, but the official notice will remain the same as on official website www.nta.ac.in

The official notification will be soon available at National Testing Agency website. The candidate can download it and read it carefully.
